At
Exotic Bathrooms, we recommend you start your bathroom remodel
planning with the selection of your Vanity unit. This will
become the centrepiece of design and focus in your new contemporary
bathroom, and will reflect distinct design and color qualities.
Bath tubs, Showers, floor tiles, paint and accessories should
all be co-ordinated to work with the new vanity. Other bath
items such as tubs, toilets etc, have limited color elements,
and more limited design options. The vanity is the logical
place to start your design planning, and will often provide
the inspiration, design features and colors you will need
to complete and compliment the rest of the project.
10 steps
to a smooth Bathroom Remodel
1. Determine the most suitable products,
based on your style, and the function(s) required in your
new bathroom
2. Take detailed measurements of your existing
bathroom floorplan.
3. Make a scale drawing of the bathroom
floorplan using graph paper.
4. Plot positions of your desired products
making best use of available space. Experiment with different
combinations until you are happy.
5. Plan your plumbing, including new water
supply and waste requirements if the desired location has
changed in the room.
6. Plan for any additional storage requirements,
adequate & effective lighting and ventilation.
7. Work out a budget – include costs
for products, installation and extras like flooring and
tiles. Pre-order products to ensure no disruption to your
schedule.
8. Appoint a contractor to perform the
installation, but don’t remove your old fixtures until
the new ones have been delivered and prepared.
9. Paint and co-ordinate your bathroom.
See our helpful information on color selection to match
your personality.
10. You are now ready for the finishing
touches. Select mirrors and other accessories which compliment
your new bathroom decor.
Add some life and interest to your
bathroom with the addition of decorative tiles, border &
strip tiles to compliment the look and theme of your bathroom.
You can tie the theme into the rest of the home by using
the same tiles in the kitchen, or as accent pieces in entry
floors, or as borders around the house.
